Superior aviation track record as command pilot, instructor pilot, and functional check flight pilot with 3,000 accident-free flight hours in fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

- Designed, developed, and implemented preflight training module of US Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) program. The module remains in use today more than 25 years after implementation and has become the Air Force standard for preflight training.
- Designed methodology for conducting initial field evaluation of Air Force combat survival training program.
- Served as the command life support officer for Air Training Command (1979-1981) and Pacific Air Forces (1985-1991). Directed life support technician training and aircrew training as well as the acquisition and modification of all life support subsystems including ejection seats installed in F-4, F-15, F-16, A-10, OV-10, and T-33 aircraft, personal parachutes, and survival equipment.
- Authored the first study that demonstrated the utility of using a LISREL-based factor analytic methodology to identify higher-order factors of military leadership (Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1991, 51, pp 15-37).
